Our grant application proposes micro-villages for youth aging out of foster care, immigrants and refugees, and other populations at risk. These socially and environmentally focused micro-villages will embody regenerative healing systems.

The buildings themselves will be instruments of healing both to the occupant and the environment at large by fighting climate change with natural carbon drawdown materials, improving occupant health with excellent management of indoor air quality through non-toxic materials, and moisture management strategies. The sites into which the buildings are integrated will be holistic regenerative environments thru water capture and reuse, food and energy systems, and opportunities for social connectedness.

The third principle element of the healing system will be community agency and ownership. The project will root the sustainable systems knowledge base within a hyper-local workforce supported by cooperative ownership and governance.
